About National Silver Academy (NSA)
The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite-sized courses that are exam free. For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable – for both Singaporean and Permanent Resident seniors – takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.
About The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE)
The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE) is a registered charity with MOE. It offers over 80 courses under the National Silver Academy, most of which are highly subsidised for Singaporeans & Permanent Residents aged 50 and above. SACE serves the continuing learning needs of adults of all ages.

Objective | This course aims to equip participants with the key knowledge on the history and art of Kokedama, coupled with hands-on creation of their individual Kokedamas with suitable plant selections |
Description | This course covers the history and culture of Japanese Kokedama. Participants will learn a variety of techniques to create Kokedamas using a selection of different plant materials Additionally, participants will learn how to introduce this new growing technique in their home gardens and how to maintain Kokedamas in their optimal conditions |
Trainer | Darren Ng
Darren Ng is an acclaimed Gardener and has been featured on Channel 5 Gardens Gurus program, CNA and 8Days. He is actively involved in a diverse range of Botanical and gardening related activities for the community and private organization set up. Darren is also an NParks Ambassador and has given talks and workshops for Singapore Garden Festival, AtSunrise Cooking academy and Gardens by the Bay. Darren has more than 25 years of international corporate experience specializing in Business Processes & Project Management in the Luxury Retail industry. Darren holds a B.Sc in Botany(Hons) NUS and various other professional qualifications such as 6-sigma Black Belt, PMP etc. |
