About National Silver Academy (NSA)
The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite-sized courses that are exam free. For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable – for both Singaporean and Permanent Resident seniors – takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.

About The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE)
The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE) is a registered charity with MOE. It offers over 80 courses under the National Silver Academy, most of which are highly subsidised for Singaporeans & Permanent Residents aged 50 and above. SACE serves the continuing learning needs of adults of all ages.

Objective This course aims to equip Gardening practitioners with basic gardening knowledge a deeper understanding of Key horticultural topics, including best practices in horticultural science.
Description Key horticultural principles and its application on various gardening processes. This course covers all the Key Horticultural principles including Light, Water, Nutrition, Aeration and its interaction with Plant Physiology. Participants will also learn the different types of plant propagation processes, different planting media, amendments and some key practices in award winning community gardens in Singapore.
Trainer Darren Ng

Darren Ng is an acclaimed Gardener who has been featured on various mainstream media including Channel 5: Garden Gurus program, 8Days and Straits Times for his home garden as well as his contribution to Community Gardening. He is also an award winning Gardener, with several of his plants clinching top awards during past Singapore Horticultural Festivals, and Singapore Garden Festival. Being an NParks Community Gardens Ambassador, he is actively involved in various community Gardening Outreach Programs.

Having spent more 25 years in various international corporate positions, he is now focusing on his key Gardening passion and spreads the love of Gardening through conducting a wide diversity of Gardening content workshops in corporate, government organisations and community group set ups. Darren holds a BSc Honours in Botany from NUS and is a certified PMP, 6-Sigma Black Belt practitioner.
